Experience the Supply Chain

Once again, logistics players in Venlo are joining forces to boost the image of their sector.

Venlo - Various logistics companies, school communities, knowledge institutions and the Employers' Service Point North Limburg together organise 'Experience the Supply Chain' again. The successful event to make pupils, students and jobseekers enthusiastic for an education and career in the logistics sector will be organised for the seventh consecutive year.

A sector full of speed and innovation
The logistics sector is rapidly developing into a knowledge-intensive industry. During "Experience the Supply  Chain", the organising parties therefore want to give participants an attractive view into logistics and leave the prejudices behind. Many people still think of a job in logistics in terms of waybills and lifting heavy boxes. During the program, it will become clear that the industry today is dominated by speed, technical gadgets, innovation and sustainability plays an important role. Within the logistics sector, the demand for personnel has also risen sharply in recent years. Employers are finding it increasingly difficult to fill vacancies. The demand for good professionals simply exceeds the supply. Thanks to "Experience the Supply  Chain", this versatile sector can be introduced in an accessible way. This will plant the seeds for the future among this young target group.

Previous editions highly successful
The initiative proved to be very successful in the past. The event led to more internships in logistics and jobseekers following a training program to get ready for a job or starting work straight away. Thanks to ' Experience the Supply Chain', pupils and students from senior secondary vocational, higher vocational and academic institutions, as well as jobseekers from the Employers' Service Point North Limburg got to know the versatile sector in an accessible way.

The parties behind this logistics tour
Several companies based in the Venlo region have been contributing to this project for several years, namely; Ewals Cargo Care, KLG Europe, Logic Leap, Seacon and Rhenus. Other companies that have joined the event this year are; Arvato, Canon, DHL Supply Chain, GXO, Neptunus and Redcare. From the educational institutions, Gilde Opleidingen, Fontys Hogescholen and Maastricht University have been loyal participants for years. This year, Summa College is also joining in. Other organisations contributing at this event are Meet the Youngsters, Supply Chain Valley and UWV/ WSP. The Employers Service Point North Limburg invites jobseekers to get acquainted with this dynamic sector. This edition will take place at Supply Chain Valley, which is also co-organiser. The mission of Experience the Supply Chain is to strengthen the logistics sector in Limburg.

Program
On Wednesday 4 September, the day "Experience the Supply Chain" will take place for wo- and hbo students. On this day, we will focus on the themes of circularity and generation management. We will discuss the role of circularity in the supply chain and how generation management can contribute to competence development. There will also be a meet & greet for students and professionals, where we will discuss opportunities for further development, training and careers in these areas.

The second part of "Experience the Supply Chain" is scheduled for Wednesday 25 September. This day is dedicated to a (further) general introduction to the logistics sector through several activities, including a VR session. There will also be a meet & greet where information will be provided on further development, training and career opportunities.

The third part will take place in November, specially organised for secondary school students. This day will have an informal format with appealing activities to give students a good idea of the logistics sector, including an explanation of training opportunities.

Working together
Venlo is known as a logistics hotspot and, as a region, offers plenty of career opportunities in this sector. By further improving the image and showing that logistics is actually innovative, the participating parties believe that the enthusiasm to want to work in logistics will be further increased. In a supply chain, cooperation and coordination is one of the most important factors. "Experience the Supply Chain" is a unique cooperation with an eye on the future for educational institutions, government and enterprises alike.
