The ‘Sustainability, Energy Transition & Circularity’ committee champions sustainability within Supply Chain Valley Limburg. The energy generated in Supply Chain Valley Limburg should ideally be incorporated immediately in the process, and energy consumption must remain within limits. The committee gathers knowledge about sustainable business practices and also shares these to ensure (along with all involved parties) that Supply Chain Valley Limburg’s ecological footprint is as small as possible. Aligned and balanced with profitability. Profitable sustainable growth.
Encouraging and implementing more sustainability in the supply chain process is what this committee is committed to. Consider the installation of windmills and solar panels and the commissioning of trucks and terminal trucks running on energy generated in Supply Chain Valley Limburg. We want to innovate by using hydrogen and electricity as energy sources for trucks. The electric grid is currently insufficient; “too much” energy is delivered back to the grid. Wind turbines then have to be switched off because the energy generated has “nowhere to go”. If the energy can be “consumed” locally, less energy is lost. The committee also wants to provide knowledge in a more sustainable policy. The ultimate goal of all efforts is, of course, to keep the ecological footprint of companies in Supply Chain Valley Limburg as small as possible.
Quote Gerbert Vissers, chairperson committee “Sustainability, Energy Transition & Circularity”
“Together, we will tackle the energy challenges of the future to make Supply Chain Valley Limburg the most sustainable logistics hotspot in the Netherlands!”
